Story

On Saturday 22nd June 2013 Shane's fiancee Kerran, cousins Joanne and Luke Harris and friends Colin Pocock and Colin Benham are taking part in a skydive over Perranporth in Cornwall in memory of Shane White who died of meningitis on 31st March 2012. Shane had always planned to do a skydive for his 40th Birthday so this seems the most fitting tribute to Shane and fundraising event we can do. So in what should be Shane's 40th year we will carry out Shane's dream.

Well, we are still collecting money for the skydive. Another £734 to pay in this week from Jo and Luke Harris! This brings our fundraising to over £4000 this is without gift aid. It is amazing. I still have some money to collect and pay in so hope to have a final figure soon. I am so proud of the five of us for what we achieved, overcoming fears to raise lots of money. Thank you to everyone who has supported us. We miss you Shane. Life is not the same without you, your smile and your love. I will always love you. Ker xxxxxxxx

Well, it's four weeks until our skydive! I hope that the weather is fine and that we can jump this time! We are looking forward to seeing friends and family there on the day to support us. We are doing this in memory of Shane who is missed so deeply by everyone.

60mph winds......

24th June 2013
Unfortunately, we were unable to participate in our skydives yesterday due to 60 mph gusts of wind at Perranporth. Therefore, we have rearranged for Saturday 17th August. We have had our briefing so are ready to go with it.....I actually now cannot wait to do it now. I sat through the briefing thinking of the questions that you would have asked and how excited you would have been to be doing this Shane. In true style we returned to Lostwithiel yesterday and spent the rest of the day here. Gathered family and friends together and had an evening of smiles and sharing memories of you. I don't quite think Lostwithiel knew what was going to hit it. You would have had such a fun evening with us. You were there in spirit in more ways than one. So we have just under 8 weeks to go......the clock starts ticking again..... Kerran xxxxxxx

It's finally here........

22nd June 2013
Well it's D Day! Or SD Day!!! It's 5.50am, been awake since 3am. Very little sleep overnight, managed a couple of hours. There are patches of Blue Sky over Lostwithiel so I really hope that there will be over Perranporth as well. We have raised an amazing amount of money so far, and are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us with either sponsorship or words of kindness and encouragement. Huge thanks to Jo, Luke, Col and Col for doing this with me. It's going to be an experience...... Shane I love you and miss you. You will be with us today as always, I can hear your laugh now..... 6 days to go.......

16th June 2013
Well, we have 6 days to go before our Skydive. I've been told lots of stories today from people who have previously done them....hmmmmmm..... I am doing this for one reason and one reason only...Shane. This should be you, Shane, not me...but I have fantastic support around me when I'm doing it. People who you welcomed into your life and had fun with. Thanks again to everyone for their sponsorship and kind words of encouragement. We will make you so proud Shane. Kerran xxxx

10 days to go.........

12th June 2013
I really hope that the weather improves for our Skydive. Only 10 days to go now....... We are so delighted with the pledges of sponsorship received so far. Thanks to all who have supported us. I still can't quite believe it....... Some of the money has already transferred across from the online fundraising page, but we have lots more now to come across. In addition to that all of the sponsor forms that we have given out, we should be able to raise a really good sum of money to support the work of the Meningitis Trust, their work is vital. The home visits invaluable to families who've been affected by Meningitis like me. Shane's story has touched the hearts of so many people, just as he touched so many lives. It will be an honour to carry out this skydive for Shane. I just wish it was him doing this. Kerran xx

17 days to go........

5th June 2013
We have 17 days to go. I really hope the weather is as beautiful as it is this week. I am sure it will be with Shane shining down on us. We have definitely reached £1000 now, which is amazing. So much more than I had hoped for. I really wish that Shane was here to do this jump with us. I know that he will be chuckling to think that I am doing this, I am such a wimp as anyone knows. Shane's death has touched so many people's lives. By doing this, we are keeping his memory alive and trying to carry out some of Shane's ambitions, the greatest tribute that I can make to such a Wonderful, loving Fiance. Kerran

25 days to go........

28th May 2013
People do not fail to surprise me with their generosity. We have reached £585.00 on line with sponsorship now. Including gift aid this is £721.25. In addition to this we have sponsor forms in lots of places and know that we have received some wonderful pledges. We still have 25 days to go before we skydive! I am absolutely overwhelmed by everyone's support. What amazing family, friends and acquaintances we have. I hope that the money raised with have a positive effect on people's lives, after something so, so terrible. I am trying not to think about the skydive, due to my extreme fear of heights. We visited Perranporth at the weekend to see where we will be descending! It is very, very real now. Only for you Shane, only for you. Kerran xxxxxxxx

32 days to go......

21st May 2013
